Vermont Plank Flooring Products
Vermont Plank Flooring® has two distinct grades for our hardwood and softwood flooring.
Our hardwood is offered in "Vermont Select" and "Vermont Rustic" grades. Our "Vermont Select" grade offers a more formal floor, predominantly clear of knots, and comes from the highest-grade FAS lumber. "Vermont Rustic" grade brings out the inherent beauty of solid knots, giving any room a warm rustic feel. Depending on the style you desire, each of these floors make a beautiful addition to your home or business.
Our selectively cut Wide Eastern White Pine, which can range from 6" - 21" in width, is offered in "Vermont Select" and "Vermont Premium" grades. The "Vermont Select" grade is predominantly clear of knots with an occasional small tight knot. "Vermont Premium" is our most popular grade. It is primarily red knotted, giving it a warm country feel.
Quarter and Rift Sawn Flooring
We are excited to offer quarter sawn flooring and rift sawn flooring. With its straight grain and iridescent "flakes", quartersawn and riftsawn flooring by virtue of its manufacture, expands and contracts vertically, as opposed to plain sawn lumber which expands horizontally. This makes our Quarter Sawn White Ash, Quartersawn White Oak, Quartersawn Hard Maple, and Quartersawn Red Oak more dimensionally stable. This characteristic makes the flooring ideally suited for radiant heated floors and humid and changeable climates.
Unique Flooring Styles to Accent Any Interior
Old Growth Northern Hard Maple
No other wood says "Vermont" quite like Maple. Extremely hard, strong, and durable, Maple is an ideal choice for wood flooring in high-traffic areas. Predominantly straight grained, our plank Maple varies in color from blonde to brown, with a fine uniform texture. Our "Vermont Country" and rustic grades are a favorite for country settings, but also make a striking addition to a house with a more contemporary theme.
Old Growth Northern Red Oak
A hard, heavy wood with a close grain, Red Oak has a pleasing, uniform tone. Our Red Oak plank flooring is set apart from others by it's consistency in color. Red Oak is an excellent choice for high-traffic areas and features a very constant and distinct grain pattern.
Old Growth White Oak
A hard, durable wood with a tighter, less prominent grain and more neutral coloring than Red Oak, White Oak plank flooring is at once striking and resilient. White Oak, mellowing to gold over time, makes not only a beautiful but very durable all-around flooring material because of its fantastic water-resistant characteristics.
Old Growth Northern White Ash
One of our most popular choices, Ash boasts a beautiful, distinctive grain pattern. Ash is close grained and tough. A very hard wood with excellent shock resistance, ash flooring is extremely versatile--appropriate for both casual and formal settings. Northern White Ash flooring from Vermont Plank FlooringŪ is offered in our "Vermont Elegance" grade at special pricing--in a mixture of sap and heartwood styles--making for a striking and memorable floor.
Old Growth Cherry
Our high-quality Cherry flooring offers a supremely elegant look and rich color. Developed from the heartwood of the tree, Cherry offers fine uniform textures. This quality, when added to the superior density of the wood creates a resistance to moisture damage that makes a very desirable floor.
Old Growth New England Wide White Pine
Strikingly beautiful and stable, wide White Pine plank flooring from Vermont Plank FlooringŪ adds a wonderfully unique accent to any room. A lightly colored soft wood with lots of natural character, our white pine flooring will age, like a fine wine, to a lovely orange-yellow. We use a combination of Old Growth
grades in our pine floors, offering a beautiful mix of intricate grain patterns blended with solid knots dispersed amongst the boards.
Old Growth Yellow Birch
Our Yellow Birch floors typically feature a fine wavy grain pattern. Yellow Birch offers striking color variation, ranging from its light colored sapwood to its earthy reddish brown heart wood. Yellow Birch is hard and strong, and like maple it is a good choice for high-traffic areas.
Hickory
The most resilient floor we sell,
Hickory
provides elegance with its dramatic grain and rich brown tones that can literally last for centuries.
Hickory
’s exceedingly durable nature lends itself to a strong and beautiful floor that will truly stand the test of time.
Reclaimed Wide Plank Wood Flooring:
In addition to our locally grown soft and hardwood flooring products, Vermont Plank Flooring® is proud offer a very unique type of flooring manufactured from high-quality, old growth, reclaimed virgin timber. What makes this fine-grained wood truly irreplaceable is that it has been submerged in rivers and lakes for more than 100 years. The recovered wood is processed into plank flooring to produce a truly exceptional product. All of the materials used are environmentally certified by Scientific Certification Systems through the Forest Stewardship Council.
Vermont Plank Flooring® Is Proud to Offer the Following
Reclaimed Wide Plank Wood Flooring:
Reclaimed Wide Plank Western Larch
Western Larch is an extremely heavy wood, as hard as Red Oak. It has very tight grain with a lustrous golden-salmon color. Most of the wood is clear although if you would like the added character of pin knots please let us know. When finish is added the wood shimmers as if holographic.
Reclaimed Wide Plank Ponderosa Pine
Ponderosa Pine is a hard pine with a great range of color. Blond-browns with a hint of red and pink give this wood very pronounced annual rings. Additionally, figuring in the wood, such as Birdseye, will grace your home with flooring of enduring character.
